Ruth Mackenzie vanaf 2019 artistiek directeur Théâtre du Châtelet in Parijs

Ruth Mackenzie is door Anne Hidalgo, burgemeester van Parijs, voorgedragen als Directrice Artistique (artistiek directeur) van Théâtre du Châtelet, per 2019. Dit betekent dat Ruth Mackenzie het festival zal verlaten na het Holland Festival van juni 2018.

Ruth Mackenzie dient hiermee haar parttime contract van 5 jaar bij het Holland Festival volledig uit. Zij stelt met het artistieke team nog de festivaledities van 2017 én 2018 samen.

Martijn Sanders, voorzitter van de Raad van Toezicht over de aanstelling van Ruth Mackenzie bij Théâtre du Châtelet: “De Raad van Toezicht betreurt het vertrek van Ruth Mackenzie. Wij hebben alle begrip dat zij een fulltime baan accepteert in een van de vooraanstaande Parijse theaters. Zij heeft inmiddels twee mooie Holland Festivaledities samengesteld en wij hebben er alle vertrouwen in dat zij dit ook voor 2017 en 2018 doet.”

Ruth Mackenzie: “Becoming artistic director of Châtelet gives me the chance to invent and explore new popular lyric forms, building on the success of Jean Luc Choplin. Théâtre du Châtelet has the same tradition of innovation as the Holland Festival and it offers the chance to create and make large scale shows with international artists. It also gives me the chance to build audiences and new partnerships all year round, working with different communities in Paris as well as inviting international audiences. I feel so lucky to have had a 5 year contract here at the Holland Festival working with such great artists, audiences and colleagues, and I know that we will stay in touch after 2018 as partners and friends in my new job in Paris.”

De 70ste editie van het Holland Festival vindt plaats van 3 tot en met 25 juni 2017.
